My Weekly Review: April 6, 2018
It was a busy week of design and building cool things on the web.
Stuff Designed
Sun Genomics Athlete Page
I started working on a design for the Sun Genomics Athlete page, a page aimed at athletes or those who prioritize fitness and staying in shape. I quite liked how my banner turned out — it’s never easy to see how much work goes into these, from choosing the right imagery, cutting out images, and playing with backgrounds and other elements.
Makai Tours
I’ve been working on a website for Makai Tours, a local San Diego boat tour company. This is a draft of the home page banner image — I’ve been doing quite a bit of illustration work for this website, and I’m liking where this top section of the page is headed, although I’m not totally happy with it. I’ll likely end up removing the bridge from the illustration and clean up how the water is presented.
Writings
Yeah, I kind of feel like the old man writing angry letters into the void, but I took time out of my busy week to write about my growing distaste for stock photo companies. I’ve outlined my reasons why I think stock photo companies suck, and my dreamy plan of doing it better.
