Blender – Extruding an Shape from Imported DXF

By Forrest Smith - Drempd.com

I’ve been trying for years to do basic CAD functions in Blender, with very limited success (just the process of trying to make a nicely curved wall is quite the project). Eventually I found Libre CAD, which is pretty nice. It’s 2d only, but I think I found a way to bring those shapes into Blender and extrude them, which is all I really want to do.

  1. Import the the DXF shape
  2. Right click on the shape: Convert To > Mesh
  3. Press Tab to enter Edit Mode
  4. Select all vertices by pressing “A”
  5. Press “F” to fill it
  6. Press “E” to extrude it
