Skateboarding For Baked Goods
I think I may be just getting a little old, but long drives don’t have quite the same appeal to me as they once did. I love getting out on adventures, but I think I’m being a little more calculated in what trips I’m willing to drive for, along with trying to find some things more local to San Diego that still give qualities of a proper adventure, but without as much work.
And so when my wife proposed that we roller-skate (her and our son) and skateboard (me) to a local bakery, it sounded like it was a good alternative. It would involve about seven miles of rolling, lattes, croissants, and then returning the way be came. The views would involve the San Diego Skyline, the waterfront, and quite a bit of unnatural (but beautiful) vegetation.
Even though this outing was entirely within the city, and near our home, it was very much an adventure with many unknowns. I’ve only started to learn how to skateboard, and this was far more distance than what we usually tackle, where we just kind of skate around in circles at the end of our street.
Would I crash and injure myself? Would we all just get tired and have to uber back? We weren’t sure, and that made it seem like a grand adventure.
