For When You Can’t Seem to Get Started

By Forrest Smith - Drempd.com

Some mornings I just can’t seem to find the motivation to really get started. Here are some things that help:

1. Go after a couple small items on your list.   Things that are easy to check off. It’s kind of good to have a todo list for these items (or to tag your todo list items so you can filter by these).

2. Plan out your day. Just dragging some boxes on your calendar denoting

3. Run in place, run around the house, do some pushups, do something physical.

4. Change your work style. Sometimes I’ll notice that I’ve been working in a fragmented fashion over the past few days — I’ll work on quite a few different projects with only small amounts of time devoted to each. While this often times works for me, sometimes I need to change it up and devote some large chunks of time to a single task so my day is only composed of two or three things.

5. Work on something you want to work on, even if it’s not what you need to be working on.   Sometimes just working on something creative, or something that you want to do can help build some energy.

6. Admit some level of defeat, but go outside for a walk, get some fresh air
