A Mammoth Weekend
Spent a few days in Mammoth, always a favorite. A few highlights:
A Stopover in Redrock Canyon State Park
The park makes for a nice little stopover so we can spend the night and get a jump on the weekend. For breakfast, at the request of M, we climbed up one of the small peaks adjacent to our campsite, and ate our breakfast with a view, and then we explored some of the drainages and formations.
A Quick Saturday Morning Ride
I love Saturday mornings, especially when they’re spent on a bike. I took a an hour or two, and did a quick solo ride out one of the adjacent roads, back towards the 395. Nothing better than a beautiful day, knowing that you still have the whole weekend ahead of you.
A Drive
We drove up to June Lake, which I’ve never been to before. We were wanting to find a nice place to spend the day, but it was a little too windy, so we kept driving, eventually finding ourselves in Tuolumne Meadows. Nice to relive some of the memories I have of that area, the last time I was there was during our Pacific Crest Trail Hike back in 2007.
Miscellaneous
The Mammoth Campground is great — lots of basketball and miscellaneous play at the city park not too far from there, easy walks to food and restaurants, and a few trails for easy wandering.
