Breakfast on the Bay

I’m looking for ways to inject small bits of adventure into our daily lives — fighting normalcy and routine. Today’s little adventure of sorts was to eat breakfast differently. Normally we eat breakfast on the couch, occassionally at a table. If I had a patio or deck, I would probably eat out there a lot — I like eating outside. Today we decided that we would eat outside, even without a patio.

We loaded up our table and chairs (which conveiently fold up pretty small), our silverware, dishes, and food, and drove the two blocks to our park. We set our table, complete with a white table cloth (one of Mason’s white blankets), at a nice spot under a tree, right next to the beach and water. We had a nice breakfast with strawberries and yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a small piece of poundcake, and coffee. We soaked in the beautiful morning.

It was a great diversion from our normal routine, and hopefully something we’ll remember and can look back on fondly many years from now. Regardless of its standing in future memory, I’m looking forward to our next breakfast on the bay!
