A Lighter Design
The first design for the Zindash interface was dark and attempted to have a bit of a futuristic feel. At the time, it was only intended for myself, and with an aesthetic that only really needed to appeal to me. It worked great through development, but the goal was always to launch with something with a little more levity and something a little easier on the eyes.
Over the past month, I’ve been working on a new design that hopefully accomplishes those goals. It’s light: mostly white but with a light touch of blue throughout. Stronger blues highlight important elements and are used for accents here and there. There are a range of additional colors, most prevalent in the daily schedule, – greens, yellows, and magentas. Over time, those additional colors may work their way into more of the interface.
I’ve enjoyed working with the new lighter design — it sometimes feels peaceful and it makes me want to chase those ideas a little more throughout the interface (I would love to create a bit of a “writing mode”, where a note post can take over the entire screen, and would allow me to just peacefully write with minimal distractions).
I have set the light design as the new standard design for the application. Eventually I’ll probably create a way to switch between themes, but for now, I’ll probably just focus on the light design, and continue to improve it over time.
